The current megatrends such as the new 5G mobile communications standard as well as autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI) place higher demands on the copper-based materials for these technologies. For example, the miniaturization of electronic control components is progress. KMD is one of the leading producers of semi-finished copper products can see the effects of an increasing demand for thinner and higher-strength alloy strips.
A new application area has emerged with its specific requirements.
KMD has responded to this increasing demand together with our experienced R&D team, and has expanded the product range. We will be able to offer thinner strips in the thickness range 0.12 to 0.20 mm with both surface feature "bare" and "hot-dip tinned".
As a special feature, we can not only coat these strips with a tin layer of 1-3 µm, but also with a tin layer of 1-2 µm, which is much more demanding in terms of process technology; of course in the usual KMD quality.
With this project, the KMD Group, as a traditional company in the copper semi-finished product industry, is taking another forward-looking step.
